AVOIDING THE SLIPPERY SLOPE
CREATING AND SUSTAINING AN ETHICAL ASSOCIATION CULTURE
What do Enron’s Kenneth Lay, Bernie Madoff and Tiger Woods all have in common? Each one skittered down that slippery slope of unethical, and in two cases, illegal behaviors. All three suffered extreme amounts of negative press and their credibility has been irreparably damaged.
Each year, association leaders give their association a legal check-up but fail to address the ethical issues that may lead to a financial or other crisis. Join us for a lively discussion on strategies and processes for inculcating staff, volunteer leaders and members with an ethical culture that prompts the right behaviors and the right choices. Also included will be a discussion of cultural issues and most likely risks within associations such as:
- How staff and volunteer leadership can role-model ethical behaviors thus creating a behavioral standard for association members;
- Guidelines and tools that associations use to support and measure the ethical culture of its staff,
- Best practices for enforcement procedures.
