Topic:  Developing Future Leaders Before You Need Them
Speaker:  Evan Fuchs

Description:

A succession-planning session focused on growing volunteers, committee members, and future board leaders. This aligns well with your own passion for leadership development and creating volunteer pipelines.

Leadership turnover is built into association life. Every year, board members rotate, officers change, and volunteers step into new leadership roles. Often, by the time they have the confidence, context, and experience to lead well, much of their term is already behind them. The result is lost momentum, added demands on staff, and a leadership cycle that keeps starting over. In this session, you’ll learn how to strengthen your leadership pipeline by identifying promising leaders earlier, preparing them for what’s ahead, and supporting them once they’re in the role. The goal: stronger leaders, smoother transitions, and a culture of continuity that carries leadership forward from one term to the next.

- Identify the costs of waiting until leaders are in the role to begin developing them and the advantages of preparing them earlier.

- Apply a practical approach to identify future leaders, prepare them before they step into leadership, and support them once they’re in the role.

- Develop practices that strengthen leadership continuity, improve transitions, and build stronger leaders at every level.
