Letter from the President

Certainty in Uncertain Times
Dear AzSAE members and partners,

Congratulations on adapting, pivoting and surviving the past several weeks of rapid changes resulting from the global COVID-19 crisis. The pandemic has brought a mass movement to remote work, virtual events, and increased advocacy. Sharing best practices and keeping our Arizona Society of Association Executives network abreast of changes has been a constant focus, providing some certainty in these unprecedented times.

As we look to the future months, AzSAE is committed to convening statewide members in regular online video conferences, and in addition bringing together panel discussions on the challenges and opportunities emerging. Please join us - share any topics that need attention.

We also continue to be responsive to fiscal realities by keeping the heat on Congress in seeking relief options for many of our members which operate as 501(c)(6) associations. Watch for continued “calls to action” and reach out to Arizona’s elected leaders on Capitol Hill to make sure associations are included in future funding phases for the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP). Do remember that the CARES Act does contain two applicable provisions: an employee retention payroll tax credit and emergency Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) grants for payroll costs, rent or mortgage payments, or repaying obligations that cannot be met because of revenue losses. It has been incredible to see many past, current and new associations engage with AzSAE as we respond to this developing situation, and I encourage you to please invest in membership so that we may continue to provide this value in support of the important work you each do. AzSAE is here for you, and together we will persevere and return stronger.

Best of health and business,

David Drennon

AzSAE Board President
